The Hagler Institute for Advanced Study at Texas A&M University selects Hagler Fellows from among top scholars who have distinguished themselves through outstanding professional accomplishments or significant recognition.
A $10 million grant from The Welch Foundation along with a $5 million matching grant from Jon Hagler, a Texas A&M University alum, created the Welch-Hagler Fellows. The Fellows are selected from national academy-level researchers in chemistry and allied fields where advances in chemistry enable multidisciplinary research. Additionally, the university has allocated $200,000 per year for at least 10 years to support fellowships for graduate students working directly with the Welch-Hagler Fellows
Through the recruitment of its Hagler Fellows, The Hagler Institute for Advanced Study raises the profile of Texas A&M—nationally and worldwide—and plays a significant role in retaining outstanding faculty-researchers and recruiting quality faculty members and students.
The Advisory Board of the Hagler Institute for Advanced Study issues a call for nominations for Hagler Fellows to be recruited for visiting appointments that will last from three to twelve months, though the twelve months may be spread over multiple years. A complete list of nominating rules is available as well as the nomination form.
